LeBron James brought an end to his time at the Cleveland Cavaliers for the second time in his career last week by announcing that he would be opting out of his 2018-19 contract with the team.

A couple of days later, it was confirmed that the King had agreed to a four-year, $154 million contract deal with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Just like he did at the Cavaliers, LeBron will be wearing number 23 when he dons the purple and gold for his first game inside the Staples Center for the Lakers, but he will wear a different number in practice.

23 and 6

According to Darren Rovell of ESPN, the four-time MVP winner will wear number 23 during games for the Lakers, but when he's taking part in practice, he will instead wear the number 6.

Many have speculated that the reason why LeBron will wear number 6 during practice in Los Angeles is to pay homage to his time with the Miami Heat earlier on his career.

James wore number six during his time in Miami, a place where he won two NBA Championships, as well as three of his four MVP awards.

It's this kind of good luck which LeBron wants to bring with him to Los Angeles next season, as the franchise could do with a bit of luck themselves.

The Lakers haven't had a winning season in the NBA since 2012-13. This was also the last time which the franchise made the playoffs. The King will be looking to reset the record in both of these departments in his first season.

The one place that both the Lakers and LeBron will be desperate to return to however will be the NBA Finals.

The Lakers will be hoping James can use his Finals experience to inspire the franchise to make their first Finals appearance since the 2009-10 season at some point during his four-year deal with the team.
