Breathe it in ladies and gentlemen, England are in a World Cup semi-final.

Expectations were at an all-time low when the Three Lions flew to Russia three weeks ago and now 'Football's coming home' can be heard chanted from every pub and street corner.

There is a real feel-good factor around the country and victory over Sweden in the quarter-finals has kept the dream alive.

Harry Maguire settled the nerves early on with another set piece special, heading home his first England goal on the biggest of stages.

And just before Sweden could throw the kitchen sink at their opponents, Dele Alli popped up with a header of his own to put the game to bed.

Zlatan and Beckham's bet

The 2-0 victory also had major ramifications on a personal level for David Beckham and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Arguably the biggest footballing names in each respective country, the pair made a hilarious bet over social media with the loser expected to do an amusing forfeit.

Ibrahimovic kicked off proceedings by tweeting: "Yo @davidbeckham if @England wins I buy you dinner where ever you want in the world, but if Sweden wins you buy me what ever I want from @IKEASverige ok?"

Beckham's superb Instagram story

To that Beckham replied: "@iamzlatanibrahimovic if @swemnt win I will personally take you to @IKEASverige and buy you what ever you need for the new mansion in LA @lagalaxy.

"But when @england win I want you to come watch an @england game at Wembley wearing an England shirt and enjoying fish and chips at half time..."

Yeh, so Zlatan, it looks like you lost.

And Beckham was quick to remind Ibrahimovic of that very fact with a brilliant Instagram story after the game.

Take a look at this post below:

Let's be honest, Ibrahimovic seems like a man of his word and the idea of him grazing on fish and chips in an England jersey is pretty hilarious.

We can only hope that Beckham ensures the LA Galaxy striker goes through with the forfeit.

What fans will be most interesting in now, though, is the status with which England will enter that future game at Wembley.

Now in the semi-final for the first time since 1990, England have an unbelievable opportunity to make history and go all the way to the final.

While Russia and Croatia will be no simple task in the final four, it won't get any 'easier' for the Three Lions at this stage.

Frankly, it's a dream no Englishman or woman wants to wake up from.
