Poor Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The LA Galaxy striker faces the embarrassing situation of having to watch an England match at Wembley while wearing a Three Lions shirt after Sweden’s defeat to Gareth Southgate’s side on Saturday.Ibrahimovic made a bet with David Beckham before the game.If Sweden won, Beckham would have bought Ibrahimovic anything he wanted from IKEA.But England prevailed, winning 2-0 to book their place in the semi-final of the World Cup.Harry Maguire and Dele Alli were both on the scoresheet with headers that Ibrahimovic would have been proud of.There was plenty of tension between Ibrahimovic and his national side before the tournament.

Ibrahimovic's tweet

This only intensified when Zlatan said he could perform better than Sweden’s players following the 2-1 defeat to Germany in the second group match.

But Ibrahimovic’s tweet will go some way to repairing the relationship.

The former Manchester United striker tweeted a photo of the Sweden team with the message: “Every player should get a golden ball in Sweden. What they did will be remembered forever.

“Thank you for the show.”

Class from Ibrahimovic.

Indeed, there were some memorable great moments for Sweden at the tournament.

They won two group games and secured top spot with a superb 3-0 win over Mexico.

They then knocked Sweden out with a 1-0 win in the round-of-16.

Sweden proved that they do not need Ibrahimovic.

We cannot wait to see him at Wembley in England gear, munching on some fish and chips.

As for England, their brilliant story continues.

It’s the first time since 1990 that the Three Lions have reached the semi-final of the World Cup and belief that they can end a 52-year wait to become champions is growing.

Southgate’s side produced a mature performance to overcome the Swedes, with Maguire and Jordan Pickford impressing.

All we need is for Beckham to get Ibrahimovic to say: ‘It’s coming home!’
