The entire heavyweight division has been turned on its head in less than five minutes following UFC 226.

It took light heavyweight king Daniel Cormier four minutes and 33 seconds to dethrone Stipe Miocic after his record-breaking run as the heavyweight champion - a title he captured back in 2016.

UFC 226

Despite a strong start from the Ohio native thanks to his height and reach advantage, DC capitalised on Miocic leaving his hands down during the clinch and ate a vicious right uppercut for his troubles.

Four huge strikes later, a new champion was crowned as referee Marc Goddard waved off the fight.

Although the knockout is going to live long in the memory as Cormier created history, it's what happened shortly after that has MMA fans talking.

Following in the footsteps of his bitter rival Jon Jones last year, Cormier called out Brock Lesnar to the Octagon.

WWE's Universal Champion wasted no time in getting in DC's face before shoving him, and then he went on to bury the entire heavyweight division with a brilliant promo.

There had been plenty of speculation beforehand that Lesnar would leave the WWE and return to the Octagon this year, with the winner of Miocic vs. Cormier looking like the fight that will happen as opposed to the super fight with Jones.

CORMIER VS. LESNAR

UFC president Dana White has already confirmed that it's the fight the organisation is looking to book, and the date and venue for their potential clash may have been revealed.

After the fight, White said: "Brock and I have been talking for a while, so I made that very clear a while ago. So we've been talking.

"He was fired up when he got here. The minute he walked over to the side of the cage, he was all fired up and going crazy. I was trying to chill him out.

"He says, 'If you don't let me get in that Octagon, I'm gonna jump in the Octagon.' He was here to pick a fight tonight."

Jeremy Botter of CNN and Bleacher Report revealed on his Twitter account that multiple sources have confirmed that Lesnar would fight the winner in November at Madison Square Garden.

With the main event in the books, it suggests that Cormier will defend the heavyweight championship against Lesnar in the main event of UFC 230 on November 3.

The UFC has a history of putting on some epic fights inside of Madison Square Garden over the past couple of years, including Conor McGregor's record win over Eddie Alvarez along with Georges St-Pierre's return victory against Michael Bisping.

With Lesnar one of the biggest draws in UFC history, MSG is the perfect venue for a fight of this nature.
