Gillingham boss Andy Hessenthaler has ruled out a move for former Charlton defender Grant Basey.

The 21-year-old was released by the Addicks at the end of last season and returned to England to be watched by Hessenthaler after training with Aberdeen during the pre-season.

Basey took part in training at Beechings Cross last week but the Gills boss will not be making the player an offer.

"At this stage I didn't think he is for us," Hessenthaler told Kent Online.
