Dele Alli finally arrived at the World Cup on Saturday afternoon. After a tournament plagued by injury issues and lack of match fitness, Tottenham's midfield maestro scored the biggest goal of his career against Sweden. His beautifully placed header from Jesse Lingard's cross sealed a 2-0 win and passage to the semi-final.Alli openly admitted after the game that it wasn't his best performance, but no one can fault his effort and he was in the right place at the right time.Gareth Southgate subbed him off late in the second-half which should mean Alli is nice and rested for the Croatia game. And it seems Alli is quite a popular guy among Russian fans judging by how they interrupted his interview with Sky Sports.Well, it might be more their fondness of England in general...

Playing the English national anthem? Sums it all up.

The feel-good factor surrounding the English team right now is unlike anything most young people will have seen in their lifetime.

For the first time, rival fans have respect for our national team and a lot of that has been down to Southgate's expert leadership.

And his support of all the players has been great as well, with Southgate praising Alli just prior to the game against Sweden - when most were criticising him.

"In terms of Dele, I thought his performance against Tunisia was as good as he's had since I've been England manager," said Southgate.

"He is at his best when he's making those forward runs and really threatening opponents with those forward runs from midfield.

"The other night, the game [Colombia] was a little bit different but he did a really diligent job without the ball for us.

"I think maybe we need to encourage him a little bit more to get into those areas where I think his strengths lie. Where he can have the biggest impact on the game.

"That is something I need to think about tactically but like I say, he did a fantastic job for the team."
