SummerSlam is now just six weeks away and WWE should start working on storylines for that event as soon as next week.

That's because there's still one more pay-per-view to work before "The Biggest Party of the Summer" - meaning this week will be building up to that show.

And it's one happening on Sunday night when Extreme Rules touches down in Pittsburgh.

EXTREME RULES

The card for the most extreme night of WWE's calendar is already set - and although there are a number of big matches, they won't affect the landscape of either show.

Even though there are seven titles on the line, according to reports, none of them are going to change hands.

That means, heading into SummerSlam, everyone that currently holds a belt should be defending it again in August.

On top of the usual title defenses at a big PPV like SummerSlam, there's also likely going to be another huge feud and it's one that fans have been waiting to see for a long time.

DANIEL BRYAN VS THE MIZ

According to NoDQ.com, the current rumour is that Daniel Bryan and The Miz will play out their long-awaited feud heading into SummerSlam.

This is great news for fans, who have been desperate to see the pair fight after their numerous clashes before The Beard was cleared to wrestle - while he was SmackDown GM.

Now, that's not all. Over the weekend, WWE announced that it will be returning to Madison Square Garden for SmackDown Live on December 26.

Despite that being over five months away, they've already advertised two matches for that event - and one of them is Bryan vs Miz.

DB's current WWE contract ends on September 1, but there is apparently strong feeling that he'll sign a new one.

If he does, his feud with The Awesome One looks set to be a very long programme - one that could potentially run until at least Christmas judging by that advertisement.

If Bryan doesn't sign a new contract though, at least fans will finally get to see him fight Miz at SummerSlam on August 19.
