WWE's biggest draw - who also happens to be the Universal Champion - turning up to confront one of the UFC's most significant names was always going to create headlines. If anything, Vince McMahon probably loves the attention after Brock Lesnar decided to show up at the UFC 226 event to confront Daniel Cormier, a lifelong WWE fan himself.

LESNAR STEALS THE SHOW

There has been plenty of mixed reactions to what happened inside of the UFC's Octagon on Saturday night.

WWE fans are split - some are surprised by the promo The Beast cut while others are questioning why he's never done anything of the sort in WWE.

Some of them are also pleased that this appearance suggests he's edging closer to a WWE exit.

UFC fans, however, have blasted the stunt and aren't pleased with the fact that UFC has taken a leaf out of WWE's playbook and tried to manufacture some drama to gauge interest.

Despite the large volumes of positivity along with negativity, Vince will surely be loving that his company and his biggest investment are dominating the headlines.

However, that doesn't mean it's all going to be smooth sailing for when the reality does kick in that Lesnar is going to leave the WWE and return to compete in the UFC.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has provided fans with a big update on what his sources are telling him about Vince's thoughts on the entire situation.

Meltzer has claimed on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that Vince doesn't want to be the one that loses Lesnar to the UFC, as it's an ego thing for him.

EGO

According to Reddit, Meltzer said: "People have told me that Vince does not want to be the one that loses Brock to UFC, it's an ego thing for him."

Fans will be aware just how competitive Vince is, and there's no way he'd quietly sit back and let the UFC 'win' by getting one over him and snatching their biggest draw.

The fact is, Lesnar sells tickets even though he's very rarely around.

Fans that attend house shows will know that merely advertising Lesnar means the live events will sell out much sooner than shows that don't feature The Beast.

Although the majority of fans want him out of the WWE sooner rather than later, the new billion-dollar Fox deal suggests Vince can afford to keep or sign whoever he wants as money isn't an issue.

Lesnar is one of the most credible wrestlers of all time.

Despite the negativity, no wrestler will be as believable as a monster that dominated in WWE, went to the UFC, became their heavyweight champion and returned to WWE to go on the longest stretch of dominance in recent memory.

So, it's no real surprise that Vince doesn't want to lose one his most significant creations, investments and a bonafide mainstream monster.
