The conclusion to UFC 226 was one of the most exciting of 2018 so far.

Following the main event, in which Daniel Cormier knocked out Stipe Miocic to become a two-weight champion, he called out Brock Lesnar.

CORMIER VS LESNAR

DC, who moments before had cemented himself as one of UFC's all-time greats, jumped onto the mic, demanding Lesnar step into the Octagon.

The Beast did just that and chaos ensued. There was a bit of trash talk, a coming together and a shoving match, before Brock was escorted away.

Their altercation almost certainly sets up a super fight for Cormier's first heavyweight title defense - and as it stands, DC is on top of the world right now.

However, the same can't be said for Francis Ngannou.

UFC 226 CO-MAIN EVENT

In the co-main event of Saturday's pay-per-view, Ngannou took on Derrick Lewis in another heavyweight contest.

Now, back in December when The Predator knocked out Alistair Overeem in round one of their bout at UFC 218, he seemed destined for very big things in MMA.

But after a loss to Miocic a month later, he should have used Saturday's fight to prove himself once again - but that didn't happen.

In fact, his clash with Lewis was so bad, that longtime commentator Joe Rogan claimed it was the worst heavyweight fight he'd ever seen.

Ouch. And things got much worse for Ngannou following the event, when UFC president Dana White singled him out for more criticism.

WHITE HITS OUT AT NGANNOU

"He had a pretty quick rise here, and obviously the fight over Alistair Overeem catapulted him, everybody was talking about him,” White said, per MMAfighting

"I thought he was going to be the next guy. I think his ego ran away with him big-time. I can tell you that his ego absolutely did run away with him.

"The minute that happens to you in the fight game, you see what happens. You start to fall apart," he continued.

"I had some personal encounters with him, as did other people in the organization, and this guy’s ego just was so out of control."

PROBLEMS WITH HIS EGO

Wow. It seems that White really isn't impressed with his fighter's attitude in the build-up to UFC 226 - and went on, even more, to explain why Ngannou failed.

"Before the Stipe fight, he took off and went to France," White said.

"He didn’t really even train for that fight. And you see the results. Well, then he comes back, and he did train, but I just - ego is what hurt Francis Ngannou."
