Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard has been the subject of trade rumours recently with links to the Los Angeles Lakers circulating last week. The point guard has a contract with the Blazers until 2021 and has never expressed a desire to play his basketball elsewhere. In this era of super teams, the 27-year-old has often stated that he's not in the business of teaming up with other superstars and prefers to win in Portland. But it was Lillard who escalated the rumours of a potential trade to the Lakers with a cryptic response to a fan on Twitter.Asked if he'd be happy to be traded to LA, he replied by saying, "I'm typically a happy camper."Both the media and fans ran with this and speculated that he may ask for a trade to the purple and gold.

Setting the record straight

Therefore, the three-time All-Star has felt the need to come out and address the situation.

He has made it abundantly clear that he's happy with the Trail Blazers and has no intention of leaving.

"I'm straight up. I'm straight up with Coach. I'm straight up with (general manager) Neil (Olshey). I'm straight up with ya'll," Lillard said, according to NBA.com's Casey Holdahl.

"I'm not unhappy. I love where I live, I love the organisation, I love our coaching staff, I love who I am."

Lillard is the face of the franchise and he continues to enjoy playing for the team that drafted him in 2012.

But the Oakland native wants to win a championship and wants the team to match his ambition.

With LeBron James now joining the west after signing with the Lakers and the Golden State Warriors getting even stronger with the addition of DeMarcus Cousins, he wants Portland to follow suit and make moves to get better.

"Like I said last year, it's the urgency of wanting to make those steps in the right direction so we can compete," he added.

"You've got people out here going all out to try and make it happen and I just want us to do the same thing. I feel like we're trying to do that."

ESPN's Chris Haynes reported earlier in the year that Lillard met with owner Paul Allen to question the direction the organisation is moving in.

Doubts about his long-term future in Oregon emerged after details of this meeting became public.

But the All-NBA guard has now reassured fans that he's not looking to leave and is still keen to win with the Blazers.
