It's fair to say that the wait for confirmation of Anthony Joshua's next big fight is starting to drag on now. After easing past New Zealander Joseph Parker in Cardiff back in March, American Deontay Wilder seemed like the next logical option for AJ as he continues to beat all that are put in front of him. But, despite Joshua and his team, including Eddie Hearn in particular, claiming that a lucrative offer is on the table for Wilder, they are yet to hear back from the American camp. With the announcement that AJ will stage his next two fights at Wembley, in firstly September and then in April next year, came optimism that the super fight was indeed on, but opponents for the British star are yet to be finalised. One option is Alexander Povetkin, who is the WBA mandatory challenger for Joshua after coming through his fight against Parker.Wilder's last fight was also in March, when he defeated Luis Ortiz, so he is short of excuses for delaying the fight, especially with eye-watering amounts of prize money having been mentioned.Whilst he waits for concrete negotiations from Wilders camp, though, Joshua has seen the funny side of the situation. On his Twitter account, he posted a picture of himself upside down at his boxing gym with the caption: 'Sorry for not posting in a while.. I've just been hanging around waiting for a signature'.

At least someone's seeing the funny side of the situation, because believe us, boxing fans haven't been laughing.

As boxing fans continue to wait for updates on the next mouth-watering clash they can look forward to, they'll hope AJ will be posting some more positive news sooner rather than later.

Though it remains to be seen whether Joshua will look to fight Povetkin before or after his possible showdown with Wilder, his seemingly inevitable clash with the American surely can't be too far away, even if it seems it right now.
