When the Golden State Warriors secured the signing of DeMarcus Cousins in free agency, it sent shockwaves around the NBA and caused an uproar from rival fans on social media. The thought of the back-to-back champions adding a fifth All-Star to their ranks was too much for people to take. Even fellow players took to Twitter to question what was going on as they reacted in disbelief. The center may be recovering from an Achilles injury but if he returns, as expected, during the regular season, his presence will make it hugely difficult for any team to deny them a third consecutive title. This move is certainly a bitter pill for their biggest rivals in the west, the Houston Rockets, to swallow.

Making their task even harder

They came within one win of beating the Warriors in the conference finals but an injury to Chris Paul ruined their hopes of getting to the finals.

Houston has now lost Trevor Ariza and Luc Mbah a Moute while the Dubs got even better with the addition of Cousins.

When the Bay Area franchise signed Kevin Durant in 2016, he fit seamlessly into the team and they've secured two titles as a result.

It'll be interesting to see how five All-NBA players will mesh together in Oakland but Rockets head coach Mike D'Antoni is hoping it doesn't go well.

"Great player, great individual talent. We got all that. I'm not taking anything away from him. There's two ways it could go. Either it fits or it doesn't fit," he said on SiriusXM NBA Radio on Monday.

"Obviously, in Houston, we're hoping it doesn't fit. But we don't know that. We'll see how it plays out."

But regardless of who Golden State has on its roster, D'Antoni is confident in his own players and pointed out that Boogie will have something of his own to worry about when he faces the Rockets.

"I do know that he's going to have to guard James Harden. I do know that," he said.

"Kudos to Golden State. They did a great job of signing him. Like I said, DeMarcus is one of the better players, is an All-Star in the league.

"We just hope that maybe too many All-Stars on one team doesn't work. I don't know. So far, it seems to work for them."

The Texas-based outfit is hoping to add another All-Star of their own soon as ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski has reported that they're "determined" to land Carmelo Anthony as he's on the verge of securing a buy out from the Oklahoma City Thunder.

However, beating the Warriors will require more and we should certainly expect general manager Daryl Morey to acquire more pieces to help the team compete for a championship once again.
