England's World Cup dream is officially over after being beaten 2-1 after extra-time by Croatia.Gareth Southgate's men were competing in their first World Cup semi-final since 1990, and looked as if they would reach the final when Kieran Trippier put the Three Lions ahead after just five minutes.England could have added to their lead, but wasted numerous chances as the half ended 1-0.And the momentum completely swung in the favour of the Croatians in the second half.In truth, Zlatko Dalić were the better team from the 45th minute onwards.Ivan Perisic restored parity after 68 minutes, and with the game having gone into extra time, Mario Mandzukic scored with 11 minutes remaining to send them through to the final.Croatia will now face France on Sunday, while Belgium and England will contest for third place on Saturday.England would have been devastated after Mandzukic's late goal.Although those watching at home would have had no clue, fan footage has captured what England did after the Juventus striker's goal. There had been talk earlier on in the tournament that a team could restart if all of the opposition's players had left the pitch. That of course happened when Mandzukic netted; with all of Croatia's players joining him in celebration. And England felt as if they could take a quick restart to try and take advantage of that 'rule'.It of course was pulled back from the referee. You can view the moment below:

Just imagine if he allowed it to stand though.

Remarkably, that was not the first time that had been attempted this tournament.

Panama tried it against England after conceding to them in the group stages.

Very weird.
