If Liverpool fans weren't worried about Loris Karius going into the new season, they should be now.Karius made two disastrous mistakes in last season's Champions League final, ultimately costing Liverpool their sixth European Cup.Jurgen Klopp has seemingly decided to keep faith in him, but the German has already proven in pre-season that the club can do better. In Liverpool's second pre-season game against Tranmere, Karius made a horrendous error that gifted a goal to the League Two side.Despite Liverpool fans heavily urging him to, Klopp has been reluctant to make a big money offer for a world class goalkeeper. He was said to be interested in both Alisson Becker and Jan Oblak, but their high price tags have put him off.But if the Liverpool Echo are to be believed, the answer could lie within Liverpool itself.Danny Ward has impressed on loan in recent years, most recently starring in Huddersfield's promotion to the Premier League in 2016/2017.But despite being 25 years old, he has made just three appearances in a Liverpool shirt. That could be about to change very soon. The Echo report that has been hugely impressed with Ward since the squad returned for pre-season training at the start of the month. The Welsh international is believed to have stepped up his efforts in training in recent weeks, leaving Klopp impressed with his attitude. And with Karius' struggles showing no signs of dissipating, the German boss is ready to give Ward an opportunity to prove he can become Liverpool's first-choice goalkeeper. The news has brought about a mixed reaction from Liverpool fans. Many think it's a step in the right direction.

Yet others think they still need to target a goalkeeper with more quality than Ward.

Klopp had previously defended Klopp after his blunder against Tranmere.

He said after the game: “No one likes that goal but, if we talk about that, then the second goal is Milly’s [James Milner’s] fault.

“Two brilliant footballers make mistakes but we only talk about one. We can’t make a story after each mistake.

"Let’s carry on and make the best of the situation and learn from it."

Klopp's patience with Karius must be wearing thin. He has already cost Liverpool once, and signs in pre-season suggest he could well do it again.

If he doesn't want to spend big money on a new goalkeeper, giving Ward a chance seems like a very sensible option.

Should Klopp give Ward a chance? Or should he still be targeting a new goalkeeper? Have your say by leaving a comment below.
