The World Cup semi-finals certainly didn't disappoint.

After an enthralling tournament in Russia, the final four served up two great games in which France and Croatia booked their place in the final.

Les Bleus squeezed past Belgium 1-0, while Croatia came from a goal down to beat England 2-1 in the Luzhniki Stadium.

France will arrive in the same venue on Sunday afternoon as the serious favourites to lift the Jules Rimet trophy, but don't write off the Croats just yet.

Nevertheless, Didier Deschamps' side proved they're the complete package in their win against Belgium.

They were clinical and exciting in attack, dynamic in midfield and strong at the back.

Samuel Umtiti scored the only goal of the game as potential Golden Ball winner Kylian Mbappe turned in yet another awesome display.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward terrorised makeshift left-back Jan Vertonghen.

However, his PSG teammate Thomas Meunier - who missed the game through suspension - wasn't too impressed with his club mate.

In fact, he gave a pretty damning assessment of his time-wasting antics in a press conference on Thursday evening.

After reading this, you really wouldn't know the pair were usually teammates.

"In Paris, I have rarely seen him waste time the way he did towards the end against us," Meunier said.

"I am sure he was instructed to do that. Kylian is super talented and a future superstar. I hope that he is not being badly influenced.

"If players like Zinedine Zidane or Ronaldo became legends with Real Madrid back in the day, it is because they played with pride and desire on the pitch.

"Zidane and Ronaldo's aims were not to be cinematic or to do things like that. They have always been rightly respected because of their footballing ability and attitude.

"Over the years, as he matures, Kylian will probably understand that attitude is an important part of becoming a legend."

Ouch, you have to wonder how Mbappe will feel when he reads that.

However, Meunier's Belgian colleague Youri Tielemens - who also plays in France for Monaco - gave a very different opinion on the matter.

"He [Mbappe] is a great player who played a good match. When you lead 1-0 in the World Cup semifinal, you try to maintain it (keep the lead) and waste time. It's normal," he said.

"There was frustration from our side. We are disappointed. We fought, gave it all. We lost and lost the opportunity to reach a World Cup final."

Meunier may have some explaining to do when he and Mbappe report back for preseason...
