Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are set to renew their legendary rivalry on Friday in what is undoubtedly the headline attraction of men's semi final day at Wimbledon - and tournament organisers have put together a sensational video to whet fans appetite for the showdown.

Despite only having met twice at SW19 in the past, Wimbledon's production staff were able to put together a montage of thrilling rallies and sublime winners from the pair's previous two outings lasting well in excess of two minutes.

The finished product was shared on the official Wimbledon Twitter account on Thursday evening - and can be seen further down this article.

Whilst Djokovic leads their overall head-to-head record by the slender margin of 26-25, the duo are tied 1-1 when it comes to matches at Wimbledon.

Spaniard Nadal took victory in a 2007 semi-final meeting, before his Serbian rival Djokovic exacted revenge in the 2011 final.

With 29 Grand Slam titles between them - including five Wimbledon crowns - the victor of Friday's contest will likely take favouritism against either American John Isner or South Africa's Kevin Anderson in Sunday's final.

A Wimbledon title for either Nadal or Djokovic in 2018 would have seemed somewhat unlikely just a few months ago.

Djokovic, now 31, has endured an injury-plagued 12 months - with a persistent elbow injury seeing him slide down the world rankings, resulting in his relatively low seeding of 12th for the championship.

Watch the footage below and just look how excited it made tennis fans.

Similarly, second seed Nadal has suffered his own injury setbacks in recent times - with a leg injury forcing him to retire during the quarter-finals of the Australian Open back in January.

In addition, Nadal had not gone beyond the fourth round of Wimbledon since his aforementioned 2011 final defeat to Djokovic - and played no grass court warm-up matches prior to the championships following an exhausting clay court season.

However, against these odds, Nadal and Djokovic find themselves facing each other for the fifth time in a Grand Slam semi-final - with each man dropping just two sets on route.

If the pre-match appetiser posted on social media is anything to go by, fans look set for a Centre Court treat as one of the sport's most enduring rivalries continues.
