Brock Lesnar is edging closer towards leaving the WWE.

Although that was the rumour circulating well before WrestleMania 34, his actions last weekend suggest the clock is now ticking on his reign as Universal Champion.

WWE EXIT

Instead of dropping the gold in New Orleans, WWE decided to keep the championship on him well past the event, as well as retaining at the Greatest Royal Rumble.

Now, with The Beast's UFC comeback all but confirmed, it's thought that Lesnar will finally drop the championship at SummerSlam.

Lesnar has now been confirmed to appear at both the biggest party of the summer as well as the episode of Monday Night RAW the following night.

Based on speculation, either Roman Reigns or Bobby Lashley will end up as Lesnar's challenger and potential conqueror.

Although that hasn't been confirmed right now, it's thought the winner of their Extreme Rules match will challenge Lesnar next.

Now, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has revealed what Vince McMahon's real plan is for Lesnar ahead of his upcoming exit from the WWE.

WALKING OUT

According to Ringside News, the latest issue of the Observer noted that Vince wants it to look like Lesnar walked out of WWE and is holding the Universal Championship up.

By doing this, it seems like Lesnar simply isn't letting anybody else challenge for the gold because he's not interested in coming back to defend it.

Evidently, the bigger picture with Vince's plan is that it gets whoever beats him as a huge babyface, as he'd be the one responsible for finally ending the underwhelming reign of Lesnar and normal proceedings can commence on the red brand.

The source also added that the idea is to get Reigns cheered at the Barclays Center when he potentially becomes the Universal Championship.

However, while this angle might have damaged Lesnar's popularity in WWE, it's being claimed that it hasn't exactly worked in Reigns' favour to get him over as the face and have the fans embrace him.

Despite that, it was noted that Vince still has control over the situation and it's not Lesnar making any of the calls.

So, even though it can seem like Lesnar is showing little interest in showing his face at WWE events, it's Vince's who is ensuring that's not the case.
