It's no secret that Liverpool have a dilemma when it comes to goalkeepers.
Rumours have been rife at Anfield ever since the Champions League final when Loris Karius dropped two clangers in the 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid.
His inexplicable throw to Karim Benzema and failure to hold a long range strike from Gareth Bale will stalk him for the rest of his career and continue to haunt Kopites.
Nevertheless, supporters were buoyed by reports of their interest in world-class shot stoppers such as Ailsson Becker and Jan Oblak shortly after the final.
Fast forward to July, though, and it seems the club have been priced out of their primary targets.
Liverpool goalkeeping debate
Once optimistic reports of a big money signing have switched to rumours that Klopp could give Karius another chance on Merseyside or even promote Danny Ward to the club.
Supporters aren't exactly bowled over by the prospect of signing a goalkeeper like Jack Butland, Alex McCarthy or Cho Hyun-woo.
That's not to mention the decline in enthusiasm for Karius getting a second chance, with the German making a questionable start to pre-season action.
Liverpool fans cast their vote
The 25-year-old had little to do in the Chester victory - although he was caught making an error in the warm-up - but went viral for a terrible mistake in the Tranmere Rovers friendly.
All in all, it makes for a very complicated situation and makes you wonder what fans really think about it all.
The Liverpool Echo tried to settle that debate on Friday morning when they staged a poll on who fans would like as their number one next season: Karius, Ward, Simon Mignolet or a new signing?
The publication claimed there were in excess of 6,000 votes and the results were certainly eye-catching - check them out:
Well, there you have it.
A swing in the vote looks unlikely with Ward caring a 5% advantage amidst claims Klopp will give him the chance to become Liverpool's number one.
A possible new signing comes in at second place with both Mignolet and Karius receiving a mere slither of all the votes.
It's clear that Kopites want change at the club and with a top-class goalkeeper looking unrealistic, they're fully prepared to let Ward have a crack on the big stage.
Ward has only made three senior appearances for Liverpool but has thoroughly impressed on his pre-season outings over the year and enjoyed a successful loan spell with Huddersfield in 2016-17.
The Mirror are even reporting that Ward has returned to Melwood in better shape than ever after previous worries over his attitude.
It would certainly be a gamble for Klopp ahead of a key season but it could be one worth taking.
