Until The Rock formally announces his retirement, WWE fans are going to live in the hope that we see him compete again.
Although it probably shouldn't be considered an actual match, the last time we saw him in action was when he squashed Erick Rowan in just six seconds at WrestleMania 32.
It can be argued that if he were to never compete again, he would have signed his WWE career off in a brilliant way, with back-to-back matches against John Cena at WrestleMania - along with a WWE Championship win against CM Punk thrown in there.
However, you can never say never, and even The Great One has refused to rule out another return to the WWE.
This week, The Rock stated that he couldn't wait to return to the ring, whether it was for a match of a promo.
He said: "I can’t wait to get back into the WWE ring.
He continued: "Everybody always asks me, ‘what’s it like being in a WWE ring?’ I always tell them there’s nothing like it. There’s a certain live crowd acumen, there’s great connective tissue that’s second to none.
"That was, and will always be the best part of my job, whether I’m actually wrestling a match, or just giving a promo. That connection with the audience, there’s nothing like it.”
It didn't take long for a call-out to take place either.
WALK WITH ELIAS
While appearing on Busted Open Radio, Elias discussed the comparisons with The Rock based on their live perfomances, before calling out the future Hall of Famer so he can show him how it's really done.
According to Ringside News, he said: "I am well aware of all the things The Rock has done in the wrestling business and just in life man. The guy is just a next level human being.
"You know but I always get these comparisons because he played guitar a few times on television or whatever.
"I just want to throw this out there – he’s done that five times, maybe six times or something like that on WWE television on Monday Night RAW, but Rock if you’re out there listening, I’m doing it every single week. I’m doing it in front of millions of people around the world every single week. I’m doing in front of tens of thousands in person live at every show I go to.
"So why don’t you come, walk with Elias and I can show you how it’s really done.”
There were strong rumours heading into WrestleMania 34 that there was going to be a segment between Elias and The Rock.
That was reportedly cancelled by Vince McMahon as he was unable to secure The Rock for an appearance.
With The Rock interested in coming back, it could be the perfect time to revive the segment.
