Finn Balor's pay-per-view record could end if he loses at Extreme Rules

Despite the fact that WWE is scripted, a big deal is certainly made out of impressive pay-per-view records.

The Undertaker's undefeated streak is the one that springs to mind instantly.

PPV RECORDS

Considering mainstream media started to report that The Deadman was defeated at WrestleMania XXX by Brock Lesnar, that should explain the magnitude of that streak and the shock that surrounded it.

Although there's no record of the sort to match that right now, one pay-per-view statistic did emerge earlier this week regarding Roman Reigns and Extreme Rules.

Should The Big Dog main event Extreme Rules opposite Bobby Lashley this Sunday, then he'll move above the likes of Edge, Hulk Hogan and Batista with 28 main event pay-per-view appearances.

While he still has some catching up to do to catch John Cena for the top spot, it's evident that he's going to leapfrog many names ahead of him - and he might even knock the 16-time world champion off his perch, too.

Extreme Rules could end an entirely different record, though, as there's only one superstar featured on the card who is currently undefeated in all of the singles matches he's featured in.

Finn Balor is going up against Constable Baron Corbin in a standard singles match.

Although there's nothing really at stake, should The Lone Wolf win, it will be the first time Balor has lost a singles pay-per-view match in WWE, according to FalconArrow123 on Reddit.

BALOR'S PPV RUN

Granted, he's only featured in four singles matches, but each of them have been big and could have gone either way.

At SummerSlam in 2016, he defeated Seth Rollins to become the first-ever Universal Championship, before relinquishing the title the following night on Monday Night RAW.

It took a whole year for Balor to get another singles match at a pay-per-view, as he defeated Bray Wyatt at SummerSlam in 2017 before picking up another win over The Eater of Worlds at No Mercy that same year.

The only other singles match the Irishman has had in WWE was another big one, as he and AJ Styles stole the show at TLC in 2017 after Wyatt was unable to compete.

Other than those matches, Balor has only featured in seven other pay-per-view bouts where he has either lost in those multi-man matches, or been eliminated.

Considering how Balor is booked on RAW, it's strange to see how he's unbeaten in one on one matches, how he defeated The Phenomenal One clean at TLC as well defeating Reigns clean, too.

While the unbeaten streak is at risk, perhaps it could be the catalyst he needs to reach that next level in WWE.
