Tony Roma's debut season as an analyst in the CBS booth was an overwhelming success, as the former Cowboys QB took the role seamlessly.

Romo's unique perspective as a recent player provided intriguing insight and although his tendency to predict plays before they happened got a little out of hand initially, the way he is able to convey the game to the viewer really added a new dynamic alongside Jim Nantz.

Romo recently appeared on NFL Total Access and gave his pre season prediction for Super Bowl LIII.

The four-time Pro Bowler was a little hesitant to give such an early prediction due to the unpredictable nature of the NFL season, but eventually settled on quite a surprising matchup.

It's certainly not one that many would envisage, but it would serve up an intriguing battle between high powered offense and elite defense.

"If I was picking right now I would probably go with Green Bay vs Jacksonville." the 38-year-old said. "I think that would be a tentative, rough guess here in the summer months".

The Jags were mightily close to the big game last season, falling to the Patriots 24-20 in a captivating encounter in Foxborough and coming back with the league's top passing defense it would be no surprise to see them make another deep playoff run.

The Packers missed the playoffs on the back of Aaron Rodgers' injury interrupted season, and whilst they have a series of holes across the roster, the influence of the two-time league MVP cannot be underestimated.

A healthy Rodgers gives Green Bay a chance in any game, even in the increasingly loaded and talented NFC.

Speaking on the Packers, Romo said he expects to see much improved team in 2018, highlighting some key offseason additions made by new GM Brian Gutekunst as the reason for that.

"I think they're going to be much improved." Romo said. "I think you'll see a couple of things that I think are key; the Jimmy Graham addition is very big, a lot of field goals are going to turn into touchdowns because of that and having him as a weapon.

"I think they're secondary which I think has been a weakness for a few years...that's going to improve this year. And then having a new system will give people in your division problems because they don't have a lot of data and situational calls against you" he added.

Moving on the Jags, Romo lauded their all around strengths, even on offense where they haven't been given all that much credit.

"...they're strong everywhere as a football team" the former Cowboys star said.

Both teams will have their work cut out to overcome  strong favourites in their respective conferences though, and it'll be hugely interesting to see how far they can each go.
