Last weekend, Daniel Cormier beat Stipe Miocic to become UFC's new heavyweight champion.

With that win, DC became only the second person to hold titles in two weight classes simultaneously - adding Miocic's title to the light-heavyweight belt he already held.

Now ranked as the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world, Cormier is far from done.

DC VS LESNAR

Next up, it appears that DC will be defending his heavyweight title in a super fight against Brock Lesnar.

The Beast, who is currently signed to WWE, is expected to make a return to MMA - and his fight with Cormier could happen as soon as January 2019.

It won't be able to happen this year, because Brock has only just re-entered the USADA testing pool and has part of a suspension to serve.

Despite not fighting in the Octagon since July 2016, Lesnar will likely be handed a title shot in his first returning bout.

UFC PUNISHING THE BEAST

Normally, a shot like that is earned - and a reward for hard work - but Cormier believes that Lesnar's championship fight is actually a punishment.

"Brock Lesnar’s getting punished for all his discretions," DC told FloCombat, per MMAMania.

"All the bad that he’s done, all the times that he’s left the UFC and come back to the UFC - even right now it could be seen as preferential treatment [since] he’s walking into a title fight.

"This isn’t preferential treatment for Brock Lesnar. This is a punishment."

It's an interesting take from Cormier, one that many fans will disagree with too. But DC is suggesting that a fight against him is punishment because he's so confident of beating Brock.

CORMIER'S CONFIDENCE

"I’m telling you: The UFC is clear as day, [and] they are not rewarding Brock Lesnar," he continued.

"They are punishing him for some of the things he has done over the course of his career.

"He’s not going to be able to handle the pressure. He’s not going to be able to handle the power. He’s not going to be able to handle the approach.

"Once I figure his timing and feel his power, which I’m not afraid of, I think he’s going to be like, 'Oh my goodness, I’m in over my head,'

"But at that point, you’re already in the Octagon and there’s no escaping it."
