Liverpool continued their preparations for the 2018-19 term on Saturday with a 0-0 draw in their friendly with Bury.

This was the club's third pre-season match and followed 7-0 and 3-2 victories at Chester and Tranmere Rovers respectively earlier this month.

Of course, Liverpool's final game of 2017-18 was a Champions League final defeat and it'll unfortunately be remembered for Loris Karius' nightmare.

The goalkeeper was directly responsible for two of Real Madrid's three goals in Kiev and he's now begun what's certain to be an extremely long road to redemption.

With that said, at Bury, Karius was given a small taste of the treatment he can expect to get from opposition fans for the whole of the upcoming campaign.

What Bury fans did to Karius

Jurgen Klopp named Karius in his starting XI at Bury and he was behind a strong back four of Nathaniel Clyne, Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Alberto Moreno.

However, given his two massive mistakes against Madrid, Bury fans taunted the German on many occasions when a pass was played back to him.

As you can hear in the video below, the crowd at Gigg Lane chanted "Wooaahhh" as the ball rolled towards Karius before sarcastically cheering as he controlled it.

Knowing Premier League away fans, it's certainly the type of thing that Karius should brace himself to receive several times over the coming months.

To make matters worse, there was reportedly even a section of Liverpool fans jeering each time he touched the ball, predominantly happened during the first-half.

It's not all bad for Karius

The 25-year-old wasn't happy, but Reds supporters did also applaud him as he walked out for the second-half, in which he was substituted off for teenager Kamil Grabara.

A 0-0 result against a League Two outfit isn't exactly ideal, but the key thing for Klopp's men is developing fitness and tactics ahead of the new season.

Do Liverpool need a new 'keeper?

The signings of Naby Keita, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri have undoubtedly improved Liverpool's squad, but questions remain over the 'keeper position.

Karius, signed by Klopp in 2016 from Mainz, is now locked in a real battle with both Simon Mignolet and Danny Ward to be first-choice between the sticks.
