Chelsea finally appointed Maurizio Sarri as their new manager on Saturday after announcing Antonio Conte's sacking the day before.

Sarri won the 2016-17 Serie A Coach of the Year award despite not winning the title and led Napoli to second last term, four points behind champions Juventus.

Chelsea won the Premier League in Conte's first season in charge, but not even an FA Cup triumph could gloss over what was a disappointing 2017-18 league campaign.

Sarri, born and raised in Naples, has promised to bring an entertaining brand of football to Stamford Bridge and is already looking to make a mark.

The Blues boss has brought Jorginho with him from Napoli in a deal worth around £57 million, but his plan to sign Gonzalo Higuain may not please all of his new fans.

Sarri eyeing Higuain

So, Sarri is plotting a move to bring Higuain to Chelsea from Juventus this summer in a transfer that would reunite an extremely productive pairing.

In their one and only season together at Napoli, the striker scored an incredible 38 goals in just 42 games (36 goals in 35 Serie A matches) under Sarri.

The 30-year-old failed to score for Argentina at the World Cup but netted 23 times for Juve last term and now faces being benched for £99 million newboy Cristiano Ronaldo.

Sarri ready to sell two Chelsea players

The Mirror are reporting that Sarri is ready to sell both Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud in order to make a reunion with Higuain at Chelsea happen.

In fact, the 59-year-old is even willing to offer Morata to his ex-club Juve as a makeweight in a potential deal for Higuain, whose wages are £240,000-per-week.

It was only last summer that the then-champions splashed a club record fee to sign Morata from Real Madrid, but he struggled to adapt to English football.

Bye bye, Morata and Giroud?

The 25-year-old scored 15 goals in 48 appearances in 2017-18, and his inconsistent form saw Conte sign Giroud from rivals Arsenal in January.

The French centre-forward, who turns 32 in September, has only scored five times for Chelsea and is a mere 12 months away from his current contract expiring.

When you factor in Giroud's goals at Arsenal in the first half of last season, him and Morata only scored four more goals combined last year than Higuain managed by himself.

That said, losing your two main strikers just for the Argentine, who's never played in England, is a heavy sacrifice that Sarri seems like he's willing to pay.
