Understandably, fans were full of criticism for the WWE heading into the Extreme Rules pay-per-view.While it already looked a depleted card on the surface, the lack of 'extreme' matches made the title of the event questionable.

EXTREME RULES

Still, there were some gimmick matches involved - some better than others - and one of the more highly anticipated clashes was between Braun Strowman and Kevin Owens.

After weeks of getting the better of the former Universal Champion, The Monster Among Men finally had Owens locked inside of a steel cage.

This came after he destroyed Owens' car on an episode of Monday Night RAW, while he embarrassed him on live television the following week during the porta potty segment.

However, when you're talking about extreme, it's one particular spot that will dominate the headlines for weeks to come.

Owens had Strowman handcuffed to the rope on Sunday night, putting himself on the verge of a huge win not many would have expected against the Money in the Bank winner.

Instead, he taunted Strowman, resulting in the latter breaking free and getting his hands on him at the top of the steel cage.

CAGE SPOT

Considering Owens is notorious for putting his body on the line in crazy spots, it came as no surprise that he was sent flying off the cage and through the announcer's desk.

It just so happens that the bump took place 20 years after the iconic Mankind and Undertaker Hell in a Cell spot - in the exact same city.

However, upon closer inspection, fans have noticed something scary about the way Owens landed after he was sent crashing through the desk.

As you'll be able to see below, Owens looks to have landed with his head hitting against a monitor that the commentary team uses.

It clearly looks painful as his head bounces off it, and some fans were quick to head to Twitter and point out just how painful it looked.

Usually, when a superstar is about to be sent through a table, the table is cleared so there are no monitors or wires that can hurt the opponent.

In this case, the table wasn't cleared beforehand, and when you see Owens wriggling in pain on the ground, it does seem like he was genuinely hurt in that brutal spot.
