It's a rumour that has been going around for years, and on Sunday it was surprisingly confirmed by the WWE themselves. As soon as the WWE confirmed on their social media accounts that Hulk Hogan had been reinstated to the Hall of Fame, it was clear that he was on his way back in.

HOGAN'S RETURN

His controversial exit some years ago suggested that the doors were firmly shut on the wrestling icon ever making a comeback, but the WWE seems to be softening their stance on one of the all-time greats being associated with the company again.

Although it's a rumour that had been speculated for years, it really stepped up over the weekend.

This is because several fans revealed that Hulk Hogan was spotted travelling on a plane with them, landing in Cleveland, Ohio.

Fans connected those dots and claimed that it could be WWE's way of throwing fans off the scent, and could have Hogan drive to Pittsburgh rather than have land there and give away the entire plan.

Now, PW Insider has revealed exactly what went on behind the scenes when Hogan arrived at Extreme Rules and met up with WWE superstars.

BACKSTAGE REACTION

Hogan initially tweeted: "Just met with the @WWE Superstars and on all levels the volume of love and support was overwhelming. I’ve been praying for this day and I finally feel like I made it back home. Only Love 4 the #WWEUNIVERSE brother HH."

According to Still Real To Us, PW Insider is claiming that Hogan met with WWE talent backstage and apologised for the racial slurs that got him fired from WWE back in 2015.

They added that sources who were also backstage during the meeting noted that Hogan spent a long time apologising for what he said and also for embarrassing the company.

Hogan reportedly told everyone backstage to always think about what they say before they speak, because in this day and age, anything can be recorded at any time - as Hogan very well knows.

When Hogan was done speaking, he also reportedly got a big reaction while getting emotional as a number of WWE superstars hugged him and shook his hand.

Although it's not confirmed, there's a chance he could be back at the tapings, while it's been claimed that Hogan being backstage at Extreme Rules was for a WWE Network Special.

The source has added that the feeling backstage is that Hogan is back with the WWE, while there have been contrasting reports regarding whether or not he has signed a new deal with WWE.
