Heading into the Extreme Rules event, not many expected Team Hell No to leave as the new SmackDown Tag Team Champions.

If anything, fans thought that either Kane would turn heel or that The Miz would interfere to cost them the match.

TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS

That's down to speculation hinting towards a big SummerSlam match between The A-Lister and the former SmackDown LIVE general manager.

Instead, there were no outside interferences as Erick Rowan and Harper of The Bludgeon Brothers decided to split the team up and make life easier for themselves.

It became common knowledge that Kane was carrying an ankle injury heading into the event.

He was spotted wearing a supportive boot during a political appearance, and the WWE took advantage of that by having The Bludgeon Brothers attack them backstage.

This saw Rowan hit the mallet on Kane's ankle, while Bryan competed in the majority of the match himself.

BOTCH?

However, there's something else that happened during the match which has some believing that Kane might have botched selling his injury.

As you'll be able to see below, Harper slid out of a Tombstone Piledriver attempt and instead, he kicked The Big Red Machine's right leg.

The interesting thing about that is Kane ended up grabbing his left leg - the one that is legitimately injured - but that's not even the leg where Harper connected as he ended up grabbing the wrong one.

At the time, it would have taken some eagle-eyed fans to notice, but it's clear as day once you watch it back like you can above.

In the end, not even Kane's valiant effort in his walking boot was enough to snatch the tag team titles from The Bludgeon Brothers.

After tagging out following the botch, Rowan sneakily tagged himself in to shove Bryan into Kane - taking his partner out of the equation.

Eventually, the duo hit Bryan with the top rope clothesline-powerbomb combo to retain the championship titles.

While nothing overly memorable happened in the match itself - other than the pre-match beatdown - Kane will be hoping that his botch is doing the rounds too much online.
