Liverpool have made their move for Roma's Alisson Becker.

After weeks without many rumours, the Reds have now made a serious offer of around £62m to the Serie A club for the Brazilian goalkeeper, according to the Guardian.

The potential bid would shatter the world record fee for a goalkeeper, which was the £35m Manchester City paid Benfica for Ederson last summer.

However, there are still quite a few things to be sorted, with Roma demanding an extra €5m from Liverpool to take the price to £66.6m.

But Liverpool are now in pole-position to sign Alisson, with Chelsea yet to make an improved offer for him.

Chelsea's interest depends on Thibaut Courtois' future, while Real Madrid have made the Belgian their main target.

It had been reported previously that Los Blancos were Alisson's preferred destination, but Liverpool are now the firm favourites.

Nevertheless, the Guardian do also state that Roma would be willing to listen to any club that would match their £66.6m valuation of Alisson.

Given the amount of money Liverpool splashed on the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Naby Keita and Fabinho, an extra €5m on top of their original offer will surely be a formality.

The potential addition of Alisson surely spells the end of Loris Karius, who has endured a tumultuous start to pre-season following his errors in the Champions League final.

Simon Mignolet is also likely to be sold this summer, with Danny Ward likely to be the back-up to Alisson should the deal be sorted.
