One month on from seeing a £57m bid rejected for AS Roma's Alisson and Liverpool have finally upped the ante.

According to various sources, Jurgen Klopp has lodged a second bid of £62m as he tries to fend off interest from Premier League rivals Chelsea.

The Blues are also looking into signing the Brazil international as rumours of Thibaut Courtois joining Real Madrid continue to swirl.

And Liverpool need to move fast because Chelsea are prepared to pay £70m for Alisson, which is £3m more than Roma's valuation.

It's going to be an interesting couple of weeks for the Reds with the general consensus being they must sign a new goalkeeper before the window closes.

Loris Karius has showed he isn't good enough to be No.1 while Simon Mignolet could be leaving and Danny Ward, despite showing progress this summer, needs more experience.

A top-class shot-stopper is the hallmark of every Premier League champion and if Liverpool are going to at least challenge next season they need to meet that requirement.

TRANSFER TUSSLE

So how does Alisson feel about the interest from Liverpool and Chelsea?

In a latest report from the Times, per sources in Italy, it's claimed that the 25-year-old actually prefers a move to Anfield and has already spoken to Klopp about a potential move.

Liverpool have the upper hand in that sense, but the fact is that Roma will be looking to sell Alisson to the highest bidder.

If Klopp takes too long to meet the Italian side's demands he risks losing out to Chelsea, which would be a tough pill to swallow for Kopites.

Time is of the essence, Jurgen.
