This time last year, the Portland Trail Blazers suffered defeat in the Summer League finals to the Los Angeles Lakers but they avenged that loss on Tuesday night. The Blazers secured the championship with a huge 91-73 victory over the Lakers in a rematch at Thomas & Mack Center.Portland's win capped a perfect 7-0 record in Las Vegas, joining the 2013 Golden State Warriors and 2016 Chicago Bulls as the only teams to finish undefeated.K.J. McDaniels was the star of the show as he claimed the championship game MVP after scoring a game-high 17 points and adding seven rebounds. The eventual winners did not trail once in the game and were in total control from start to finish. They were able to nullify the threat of the Summer League MVP Josh Hart who was the leading scorer in the competition and had dropped 37 points on the Cleveland Cavaliers in a thrilling double-overtime semi-final clash.Although he was the Lakers' leading scorer with 12 points, he shot just 3-of-12 from the field and was ejected with less than five minutes to go for arguing with officials.

“Last year it was Portland and the Lakers, Lakers got the job done last year,” said Blazers point guard Wade Baldwin IV.

“It’s redemption for this team. We played together this entire tournament and we put it all together in this game and came out with a win.

“Coming in the goal was to win a championship and we went undefeated and we did that as a team.”

Baldwin IV was one of the best players on the court as he finished with 14 points, six assists and four rebounds in 20 minutes.

Before the game, he was named to the Second Team All-Summer League for his performances in Vegas.

Six players in total ended up finishing in double figures for the Oregon-based outfit.

One of those was rookie Gary Trent Jr. who they selected with the 37th pick in this year's draft.

He shot 6-of-15 from the field for 12 points to go with two rebounds, two assists and two steals in 23 minutes.

It's unclear how many of the players on the Trail Blazers' Summer League roster will feature for them next season but a number of players have made strong cases.
