On August 10, NFL fans will be able to get their hands on this year’s version of Madden.
We already know a few details about EA’s latest game – and it sounds like it could be one of the best yet.
The 2018 release will include a number of improved features, including “real player motions”, interactive touchdown celebrations, better ultimate team content and a sequel to Longshot.
Football fans are always interested to find out about new stuff like this – but they get even more excited when hearing about player ratings.
With just weeks until the game’s launch, we now know how the top players in each position are rated in Madden 19.
Seven players will stand out from the rest from day one – as they’ve formed an exclusive 99 club.
Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Rodgers, Von Miller, Luke Kuechly, Antonio Brown and Aaron Donald will all begin the game with the highest rating.
Although fans can now find out exactly how their favourite players are rated, something important is yet to be announced.
We don’t actually know who will have the honour of featuring on the cover of the game this year.
RECENT PAST COVER STARS
In 2017, it was Brady who graced the front cover. The year before that, his teammate Gronkowski was picked and in 2016, Odell Beckham Jr was voted as the cover athlete.
Terrell Owens has been announced as the man who will be on the front of the game’s “Hall of Fame” edition in 2018 – but the regular cover star hasn’t been revealed.
Luckily for fans who can’t wait any longer, it appears to have been leaked this week – and EA’s big announcement has been ruined.
THE MADDEN 19 COVER
Multiple pictures have surfaced on Twitter that seem to confirm that it will be a member of the 99 club who’s featured on the front cover.
If the pictures are real, Steelers wide receiver Brown looks to have taken this year’s honour. Check them out below.
It’s not clear when EA were actually going to officially announce that Brown would be on the cover, but they will probably do it quite soon now.
So, it’s almost certainly going to be the Pittsburgh star who faces the infamous “Madden cover curse” next.
Will he be able to buck the trend of underperforming during the season he’s on the game’s cover, similar to Brady and Beckham? Or will he fall foul of the curse like so many others?
Only time will tell.
