Manchester United fans are growing pretty restless in the transfer window.

The Red Devils have got off to a stuttering start in the market, with the arrival of Brazilian midfielder Fred the only high-profile acquisition so far.

Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant have also been brought in, but the pair will likely be squad players at best during 2018/19 - particularly Grant.

Elsewhere in the market, United and Jose Mourinho have been left frustrated with major deals struggling to come to fruition.

Alex Sandro, Toby Alderweireld and Gareth Bale being the three most prominent names.

And any pursuit for Bale relies solely on the input of new Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui.

United are still keen, but after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, he will surely keep hold of the Welshman, as per Independent.

As such, United and Mourinho have decided to pursue alternative marquee signings and the manager has given the board his shopping list.

At the top sit Bayern Munich pair Robert Lewandowski and Thiago Alcantara, two players that the German club would be open to selling for the right amount.

Where they would fit in is another thing entirely, particularly with Lewandowski.

Romelu Lukaku surely won't take too kindly if he is replaced and after their performances at the World Cup, you'd opt for the Belgian.

As for Thiago, he would surely be a starter alongside Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic, with Fred having to make do with a place on the bench.

The report also states that United are confident that deals can be done for both Alderweireld and Sandro.

Seems United are aware they need to start matching their rivals in the market.

Liverpool have strengthened enormously and if Alisson Becker does complete his world-record move, the Red Devils will struggle to match them.

Expect a lot of activity to be coming out of Old Trafford and Carrington in the next few weeks.
