As the dust settles on the news that Anthony Joshua, currently a unified heavyweight world champion, will match up against Russia's Alexander Povetkin in a showdown on September 22 in London this year, one man is not content with settling for second best.

During the launch of DAZN streaming in the US, as the two boxers were set for photos face-to-face, American Jarrell Miller joined the party and took the opportunity to goad Joshua, and in the process, took it one step too far for the Englishman to laugh off.

Reports came out soon after that Miller shouted towards Joshua, telling him that his mother "looks good in a Sunday dress" and that "she does look good, though. I've seen her," finishing with "but I got a date with your mum anyway," towards a TV camera.

Astonishingly, the goading by Miller seemed to miss the ears of Joshua, as seemingly he only found out the true extent of the insults directed at him in an interview later on.

Speaking to Sporting News the day after the bizarre verbal attack, Joshua is asked what he thinks to the insults directed at him, in particular the comments made about his mum.

In reply, Joshua asks, "what?".

The champion's face drops, and in doing so, the interview becomes a lot less light hearted.

Clearly affected by what he has just found out, Joshua found it difficult to talk about other topics, telling the interviewer, "I'm still thinking about that comment."

Time will tell whether this was all part of the plan from the American, but one thing is for sure, talk of a potential match-up between the two will be louder than before Miller's incredible interruption.

Miller will certainly be in the mind of Joshua for a little while to come, even if Povetkin is the man next on his radar.
