WWE may be putting most of their focus into next month’s SummerSlam - but that won’t be the promotions only PPV in August.

As with all of the other “big four” main roster shows, SummerSlam will immediately follow NXT TakeOver, which airs live the night before.

TAKEOVER SUCCESS

The developmental brand's PPVs are always exciting and often, WWE fans are left more impressed by the action on TakeOver, compared to the following night's main roster show.

Part of that is down to those who perform on the card. TakeOver is normally just a two-hour show, meaning only the best wrestlers in the brand make the cut.

But like the main roster, NXT does also have a weekly show that airs on Wednesday night, although the difference is - these are taped in advance.

Last night happened to be one of these tapings for an upcoming show - and well, there was a huge development.

Title changes are very rare on any of WWE's weekly programmes, but next Wednesday's episode of NXT will feature just that.

THE CHAMPIONSHIP CHANGE

At last night's tapings at Full Sail Live in Orlando, Florida, Alister Black put his NXT Championship on the line against Tommaso Ciampa.

Incredibly, The Blackheart prevailed, taking the title out of Black's hands. With his win, Ciampa becomes only the 14th person in history to hold NXT's top prize.

Interestingly, as they have been doing recently, WWE made no attempt to hide the fact that Ciampa beat Black last night.

They posted the following photo on their website, accompanying a story that spoils the outcome of the match.

MAIN ROSTER CALL-UPS?

Now, following Black's loss, many fans have been speculating that he will finally be promoted to WWE's main roster.

That move would have to happen following SummerSlam, as it's already been confirmed that he will be part of a triple threat match with Ciampa and Johnny Gargano at TakeOver: New York.

Should he fail to recapture the NXT title in that huge fight, then Black will surely be getting a promotion to either SmackDown or RAW.
