Daniel Bryan's WWE future has been up in the air for a long time now, even after he made his in-ring return back in March.

Before that happened, the feeling was that another promotion would let DB wrestle again, even if WWE were against the idea.

Thankfully though, Vince McMahon reluctantly agreed to clear one of his company's most popular stars a few months ago - and that looks to have been the right decision.

CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS

Now, as WWE finally granted Bryan his return, many fans have been hoping that decision means he'll choose to stay with the company.

His current contract ends on September 1 - in less than two months.

As yet, nothing has been officially announced by either Bryan or WWE, so it's not yet clear whether he will decide to stay or go.

As well as potentially breaking the hearts of many fans, whatever The Beard chooses to do, will seriously impact on two of WWE's biggest pay-per-views.

BRYAN VS MIZ

On this week's episode of SmackDown Live, we seemed to get the first teaser for a massive feud between Bryan and The Miz.

Those two have pretty much been at each other's throats for almost two years now, ever since The Awesome One lost it on Talking Smack in 2016, two days after SummerSlam.

Even while DB was sidelined with injury and acting as SD Live's GM, the pair were at each other, doing everything but throwing down in the ring.

And once Bryan was rumoured for a return, fans started to dream of seeing them finally finish it all.

Now, with his situation up in the air, WWE has apparently given Bryan two choices.

SUMMERSLAM OR WRESTLEMANIA?

According to Joseph Peisech on The No Holds Barred podcast, if DB signs a new deal with the company, they will push his match back to WrestleMania 35.

But if he doesn't, they'll have to pull the trigger and have the pair feud before he leaves at SummerSlam next month.

"If you’re ever going to play the three, four year waiting game between The Miz and Daniel Bryan you better pull the trigger right now because you may not have it," Peisech explained, per Ringside News

"That’s why they are going with the match at SummerSlam. I’ve been told that if he does sign the match is going to be held off till WrestleMania."

So, it looks like one of the most anticipated feuds of recent years will all come down to what Bryan decides to do. No pressure, then.
