Liverpool's confusing goalkeeping situation is gradually starting to make sense.

Just last week it was reported that Jurgen Klopp was prepared to give Danny Ward the chance to replace Loris Karius as No.1.

Karius, who made two mistakes in the Champions League final and another in a recent friendly against Tranmere, has lost the faith of his manager.

As for Simon Mignolet - well, the Belgian doesn't seem to have a future at Liverpool and will most likely be sold this summer.

News that Ward was set to start the new season as first choice divided Liverpool fans, but his status as the new No.1 hasn't even lasted a week.

Liverpool have agreed a £66m fee to sign Alisson from AS Roma and the Brazil international is set to complete a move in the coming days.

Being a top-class goalkeeper, Alisson is now set to become No.1, which has sparked questions of what will happen to Liverpool's remaining three shot-stoppers.

KLOPP'S GK HEADACHE

If Liverpool fans had their way it would be that Ward stays as No.2, Karius goes out on loan and Mignolet gets sold.

However, according to Goal's Neil Jones and Sky Sports (see below), that's not the way things are going to work.

Liverpool play Blackburn Rovers tonight and Ward was down to start the game in goal. He's now not going to feature at all.

Instead he's heading to Leicester City, who are in talks with Liverpool over a £10m move as they prepare to say goodbye to Kasper Schmeichel.

"Danny Ward set to miss [Liverpool's] game with Blackburn tonight - he had been down to start it," wrote Jones.

"Club in talks with Leicester over a possible transfer. Roma looking at Kasper Schmeichel as Alisson replacement. Goalkeeping merry-go-round!"

Clearly a lot can change in a week and judging by the reaction on Twitter it's safe to say Liverpool fans don't know what to make of it.

While some are sad that Ward is leaving after having his No.1 spot taken away, others are happy that he's getting the break he deserves.
