SummerSlam is now just a month away - and much of the talk has been surrounding Brock Lesnar and the Universal Championship.

It's pretty clear that WWE are building towards something huge for August's event, that will definitely see The Beast defending his belt.

SUMMERSLAM MAIN EVENT

Unsurprisingly, as it normally is when Lesnar's around, that match is expected to close the show.

It's still not clear who he'll be facing at SummerSlam, but Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley will be fighting for that chance on next week's RAW.

Of course, there's going to be plenty more exciting action in Brooklyn - with every title expected to be on the line.

That means then, that AJ Styles will be defending SmackDown Live's top prize too.

THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP

Sadly, The Phenomenal One and his WWE Championship don't get as much exposure as Lesnar and the Universal title, despite the fact that AJ turns up every week.

But Styles has been quietly rolling on as a very successful world champion, away from the spotlight.

After defeating Rusev at Extreme Rules last Sunday, AJ has now held the belt for over 253 days, which is the 16th longest WWE Championship reign in history.

He's recently overtaken the likes of Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels - and is closing in on John Cena and JBL.

And if the latest reports are to be believed, Styles will have a pretty good chance of beating both of those guys.

SUMMERSLAM DEFENSE

According to Cageside Seats, AJ is currently penciled in to face Samoa Joe at SummerSlam.

That's bound to be a great fight, but a dangerous one for the champion. Interestingly though, the rumour at the moment is, that Styles will be successful in his next title defense.

If that is the case, then he'll be edging ever closer to the top of that title reign list - and securing a position in the top 10 would be very well deserved.

But he'll still have quite some way to go if he wants to beat Bruno Sammartino, who holds the longest WWE Championship reign of 2,803 days.
