It's looking increasingly unlikely that Willian will pull on a Chelsea jersey next season.

Rumours are circling that the Brazilian will leave Stamford Bridge this summer with both Manchester United and Barcelona linked with a move for him.

The 29-year-old was visibly frustrated with the reign of Antoine Conte last season and there is little indication that the arrival of Maurizio Sarri has remedied the situation.

And while Willian isn't exactly the club's most important player, supporters would certainly oppose the move and no less so considering rumours of exits for Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois.

Willian is far from the only problem Sarri has to do deal with during his first few weeks in west London.

Rumours of Willian exit

Barcelona are already believed to have tabled two bids for the winger, although Chelsea's attitude to the £53 million offer isn't clear at this stage.

Then, of course, there's the rumours of a possible reunion with Jose Mourinho and United are believed to favour a Willian move if Anthony Martial leaves the club.

It all makes for a complicated situation, even if Willian's return from the World Cup in Russia means that any developments in the saga can now take hold.

Willian's Coutinho conversation

That being said, only now has there been a significant update in proceedings and it seems Willian's actions have spoken for him.

According to The Sun, Willian is still 'determined to quit' in spite of Sarri's appointment as manager.

The 29-year-old has been frustrated with the club's negative tactics recently and is set to ignore Sarri's plea for players to hear him out.

And perhaps most interestingly of all, Willian started 'extensive' discussions with Philippe Coutinho about joining Barcelona during their time with Brazil.

The report reads: 'He is understood to have spoken extensively with Philippe Coutinho over the course of the World Cup about joining him at Barca.'

So it seems the idea of joining Barcelona is playing on Willian's mind.

Chelsea supporters probably won't be happy with Coutinho for discussing the matter, but it could be irrelevant given Willian's apparent determination to leave.

It appears that Sarri could have a serious task on his hands to prevent a number of key players leaving the club this summer.

With both Courtois and Hazard being weighed up by Real Madrid, Willian could be the third important squad member to leave Stamford Bridge.

Just two of those departures would leave Chelsea with some serious work to do in the remaining weeks of the transfer window.

If Willian has his way, though, he won't be in west London on Deadline Day.
