Shane McMahon hasn't been seen in WWE since the post WrestleMania 34 episode of SmackDown Live in April.

The commissioner ended his feud with the misbehaving Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn - by pairing up with Daniel Bryan at The Show of Shows.

Two nights later, he appeared on SD to announce that the two would never wrestle on the blue brand again - before sending them to RAW in the Superstar Shakeup.

TAKING SOME TIME OFF

After tieing up post 'Mania loose ends, McMahon has disappeared into the shadows.

He hasn't been seen at all over the last few months - and new SmackDown General Manager Paige has been running his show in his absence.

The reason he initially took time off was to undergo surgery, repairing a hernia he had before WM 34.

But surely, that injury shouldn't be enough to keep him away from his role as commissioner - so why hasn't Shane O'Mac returned to take back control of his show?

Well, Dave Meltzer has the answer.

ONLY A PERFORMER

Interestingly, according to the journalist, WWE still only view Shane as a "performer" - so are just keeping him off TV like any other superstar would be after an injury.

In fact, Meltzer believes that the company aren't going to put him back into a position of power anytime soon.

"There’s no movement to get him back in power, in any kind of power position," Meltzer explained on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, per Ringside News.

"He’s just a performer. I don’t know how he’s doing after surgery they haven’t brought him back to TV for whatever reason yet."

Meltzer did also speculate that one reason WWE could be keeping him off TV is to get Paige over as SmackDown's GM.

PUSHING PAIGE

"Maybe they just want to get Paige over. They don’t need him on TV. I mean really. Paige is fine in the role," he continued.

"Save Shane for when they’ve got a reason for him to be there and I haven’t seen a reason of late."

It's interesting to note that WWE don't view Shane as a power figure right now. As that's the case, we could only be seeing him again when he's ready to get back into the ring himself.
