At UFC 226, Daniel Cormier knocked out Stipe Miocic to become heavyweight champion.

With the win, DC added that belt to the light-heavyweight title he already holds, becoming only the second person in history to hold championships in two weight classes simultaneously.

But even that huge achievement was overshadowed by what he did following the fight.

DC CALLS OUT LESNAR

Aware that former UFC heavyweight Brock Lesnar was watching his fight cageside, Cormier took the mic afterward and told him to get into the Octagon.

The Beast obliged, meeting DC face-to-face for a staredown.

Prior to UFC 226, Rumours had been flying around that suggested Brock was ready to make his MMA return.

His confrontation with Cormier all but confirmed it.

A WWE STYLE SEGMENT

However, some fans weren't impressed with their altercation - with people suggesting that it was more like a WWE promo, rather than a UFC call-out.

Really, all the pair did was go back and forth on the mic. There was a lot of trash talking and squaring up before Lesnar shoved Cormier a few times.

Before things got too out of hand, the WWE Universal Champion was escorted out of the Octagon and on the whole, both men behaved themselves post-fight.

But according to one member of DC's team, things could have got very messy.

ROCKHOLD WANTED TO JUMP IN ON BROCK

Luke Rockhold, who's been a long time teammate of Cormier, was in the cage when the two were squaring up.

Apparently, he wasn't too keen on Brock pushing the new heavyweight champion - and has since claimed he nearly jumped into the situation himself to defend DC.

"I was trying to judge Brock," Rockhold explained on Submission Radio, per MMAMania.com.

"Brock was coming in hot and pushing ‘DC’ but ‘DC’ kept his composure and he was trying to laugh it off, so… I was trying to judge the situation.

"I was about to pull a Diaz brother and jump on his back and kick Brock in the head."

Thankfully though, everybody was able to keep their cool, which meant that Rockhold didn't need to pull a "Diaz".

THE PUBLIC BRAWLS

He's referring to brothers Nick and Nate, who have a reputation for causing trouble inside the cage.

Luckily though, the scenes at UFC 226 were far from what we've seen in the past at other MMA events like Strikeforce: "Nashville", which involved Nick himself.
