Liverpool completed the world record signing of Alisson Becker from AS Roma this week, ending months of speculation surrounding the Brazilian.

Alisson had been heavily linked with moves to both Real Madrid and Chelsea but it was the Reds, whose interest has been known for a while, who completed the deal.

It wasn't exactly a secret that Jurgen Klopp and his team were in the market for a goalkeeper but, much like with Virgil van Dijk a year ago, they weren't going to settle for anyone except their #1 choice.

And now they've got him, Liverpool will hope they've sorted a problem that has haunted them for years.

Loris Karius had become Liverpool's first-choice keeper over the second half of the season but there were still links to replacements - especially after the Champions League final.

Alisson's arrival means that the German is going to go back to a backup role - although that does leave Simon Mignolet's future up in the air.

Mignolet saw his game time dramatically shortened in 2018 and he'll almost certainly leave Liverpool after five years at the club.

His destination is unknown right now, although the latest reports suggest it could be a very, very surprising one.

According to Marca, Barcelona are seriously considering Mignolet as a replacement for Jasper Cillessen.

The Dutchman is said to want out of Barca to find more minutes, while Mignolet may find the prospect of playing in the Copa del Rey as the backup for Marc-Andre Ter Stegen an enticing one.

It's worth noting that he's not the only goalkeeper on Barca's list; La Liga's champions are also considering Koen Casteels, Yann Sommer, Geronimo Rulli, and Marko Dmitrovic.

Mignolet might be the easiest to get a hold of, however, with Liverpool happy to sell - and it would surely be one of the most surprising transfers of the summer.
