Liverpool supporters cannot wait to see their new-look side in action.

With Naby Keita, Fabinho, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alisson on board, Liverpool are certainly going to be entertaining to watch this season.

But being entertaining is one thing. Winning trophies is another.

Liverpool have lost three finals under Jurgen Klopp and it’s been six years since they landed any silverware.

This Liverpool side should deliver sooner rather than later though.

Indeed, the pressure will mount on Klopp if this season is another barren one.

The Reds have the look of title challengers and will enter the campaign among the favourites.

Salah's lactic fitness test

Whether they can surpass Manchester City remains to be seen, but they appear the most likely out of the rest of the top four to do so.

That is a real possibility if Mohamed Salah can repeat his heroics from last season.

The Egyptian netted 44 goals in all competitions as he scooped a host of individual awards.

Salah recently returned to Melwood, where he was put through his paces in a lactic fitness test.

Salah was joined by Sadio Mane and Marko Grujic as he took part in the test, which sees players jog around the pitch before having a blood sample taken each time they complete a lap.

If the level of lactic acid in their blood exceeds a certain limit, they are out of the test.

Grujic quits while Salah and Mane carry on, before Salah makes a comment that just completely sums him up.

The pair are told to both stop running before Salah asks a member of staff: “Can we do it again?”

He’s just completed an intense test and he wants to keep on going? Remarkable.

The look on his face when he's told he can't run again is of utter despair.

That’s the kind of attitude Klopp demands from his players and it will please the German to hear what Salah had to say.

James Milner left his teammates in awe when he carried out the lactic fitness test earlier in July.

The 32-year-old was still running laps at 24km/h, beating Keita and Adam Lallana to first place.

For Klopp’s high-pressing system to work, his players need to be incredibly fit.

And when he’s got Salah asking to do more laps, and Milner running forever, he can certainly get excited.
