Following WrestleMania 34, it felt almost as if Vince McMahon had made it his mission to swerve the WWE fans.

The majority are prone to reading up on speculation online to see whether or not the company has surprises planned.

SWERVES

The curiosity only increases towards the Grandest Stage of Them All, and there were a couple of surprises in store in New Orleans this year.

Perhaps the biggest swerve to come from the event this year saw Brock Lesnar retain the Universal Championship.

Although The Beast still holds Monday Night RAW's biggest prize right now, the expectation was that Roman Reigns would be the first to kick out of the F5 and eventually go on to become the new champion.

He failed on two occasions, including at the Greatest Royal Rumble in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia as the WWE successfully threw off its audience.

Another surprise saw 10-year-old Nicholas emerge from the crowd and leave - alongside Braun Strowman - as the new RAW Tag Team Champions by defeating Sheamus and Cesaro of The Bar.

What took the fans by surprise was the fact that the WWE chose not to use an actual superstar to become Strowman's surprise tag team partner.

The biggest name doing the rounds at the time was Bobby Lashley, who ended up making his WWE return the following night when he targeted Elias.

Now, Strowman has finally shared his reaction to that major swerve by WWE.

NEW CHAMPIONS

When speaking to Sportskeeda during an appearance in India, Strowman explained that he was only told about the plan on the day.

He said: "Oh man, that was a huge surprise to me.

"I didn't know who my partner was going to be until I got there that day and the boss told me to pick somebody out of the crowd.

"He just happened to be the lucky one, and he caught my eye! I didn't necessarily think I needed to have a partner, but the boss was adamant I had to have one.

"So, I made a young fan's dream come true. I brought him out there, and we put a lickin' on The Bar and won the titles from them."

Evidently, Strowman would have known who his partner would be heading into the event.

Still, there's no denying that it was not only a massive surprise, but it was an amazing WrestleMania moment.
