Fans continue to want to see CM Punk wrestle once again.

CM Punk, real name Phillip Brooks, was the biggest Superstar that WWE made in this current decade aside from former WWE Champion John Cena. The former WWE Superstar made a name for himself on the independent scene and while working in Ring of Honor.

When WWE finally decided to sign him, it was a big move for the company. The interesting part of Punk’s time with the sports entertainment company was that they were never behind him.

In fact, while he was in OVW, WWE management wanted then booker Paul Heyman to fire him, but the former owner of ECW denied their request.

Fast forward to when WWE decided to re-launch the ECW brand in 2006, Heyman, who oversaw creative alongside Vince McMahon decided to call him up to the main roster and use him.

Punk’s career took off, and he would later hold several championships including the WWE Title. However, after dealing with injuries and not wanting to wrestle anymore, Punk decided to walk out of the company on the Monday following the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event in 2014.

Since he departed from the WWE in 2014 after the Royal Rumble PPV (pay-per-view) event, fans have wanted to see Punk compete in the squared circle again. Instead, he took his talents to the world famous Octagon in the UFC.

However, he lost in his MMA debut against Mickey Gall at UFC 203 in September of 2016 by first round submission. There have been talks about Punk competing under the UFC banner again, but nothing had been made official until this year.

Punk fought Mike Jackson in a welterweight bout at the UFC 225 pay-per-view event on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

As seen in the fight, Jackson dominated it and Punk showed a ton of heart but was winded after the first round. Jackson was able to pick up the unanimous decision win. Punk did not do a post-fight interview.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Ring of Honor is interested in CM Punk for its show at Madison Square Garden next year. However, it’s considered a long shot to happen and fans shouldn’t hold their breath about it being made.
