Now that DeAndre Jordan is a Dallas Maverick, the Los Angeles Clippers have officially moved on from the Lob City era.Still in search of their first NBA title, Los Angeles will rely on a mix of youngsters and scrappy veterans in the upcoming season, barring any trades.Their backcourt will be very crowded. At point guard, Patrick Beverley, Juwun Evans, Milos Teodosic and rookie Shai Gilgeous-Alexander could all be in the mix to receive playing time. At shooting guard, Avery Bradley, Lou Williams, Sindarius Thornwell, and rookie Jerome Robinson are all signed through the upcoming season as well.Danilo Gallinari, Tobias Harris, Sam Dekker, Wesley Johnson can play either forward spot and the newly-signed Mike Scott has spent most of his time at the four. Veteran Marcin Gortat and fan-favorite Boban Marjanovic are the only two centers on the team.Since all of those players are signed, the roster was already almost fully complete. But, the team made an important re-signing on Saturday. Restricted free-agent Montrezl Harrell agreed to a two-year, $12 million contract to return to the Clippers, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported.

Harrell's deal is fully guaranteed, Wojnarowski added.

Why he matters

The three-year NBA pro had the best season of his career last year, impressively averaging 11.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in just 17.0 minutes over 76 games for the Clippers. Despite the fact that he rarely saw 20-plus minutes, he fit in to a high-usage reserve role, converting a remarkable 63.5 percent of his 7.2 field goal attempts per contest.

Although the presence of traditional centers Gortat and Marjanovic doesn’t guarantee Harrell an uptick in minutes moving forward, Doc Rivers will most likely ask him to continue using his athleticism to attack opposing second units. Since the current NBA now requires most opposing bigs to switch onto smaller (and quicker) defenders, Harrell could find himself playing over both centers, especially against teams like the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers since they'll employ small-ball lineups from time to time.

Now that Harrell is signed, the Clippers have 18 players under contract, 16 of which are fully-guaranteed. That means two fully guaranteed players will either be traded or waived before the start of next season.

Therefore, expect the Clippers to make at least one more trade this offseason. Since they have a bit of a logjam in their backcourt at the moment, they'll most likely look to move one, two or even maybe even three guards.
