The Lewis Hamilton-Nico Rosberg feud is one of the sport's greatest, giving us countless clips of awkward stand-offs and tense-podiums, often with the Brit standing the higher.

How their relationship has turned out, though, is particularly sad, given that the pair had been teammates, not only at the height of motorsport, but at the very bottom too when they were karting teammates at a young age.

In the four seasons that the two were paired at Mercedes, Hamilton won the first three, and Rosberg the last, before the German retired from the sport five days later.

He has since found work on the camera-side of the sport, working as a pundit for Sky Sports and Germany's RTL.

And there was due to be another awkward interchange between the two this weekend, where Rosberg was set to do the post-race interview at Hockenheim on Sunday, only for Rosberg to be cancelled.

And cancelled not for the first time.

Rosberg was also meant to do the post-race interview in Monaco, but he didn't, and it's now become a bit clearer as to why he didn't.

He told German outlet Bild: "It was for Monaco and Hockenheim, so I thought.

"Both times I had been given the release of RTL, but then came a few days before the message that there is no need."

The accusations against Hamilton are being made by Bild, who claim that he'd heard of the plans for Rosberg to be doing the post-race interviews and intervened because he did not want to be questioned by Rosberg.

Bild are claiming he asked F1 authorities to change their minds with regards to Rosberg, which they clearly did.

Hamilton is looking for his first win at Hockenheim this weekend after signing a new three-year deal at Mercedes, which is estimated to be worth around £80 million pounds.

Hamilton said: "The contract extension has basically been a formality since Toto and I sat down during the winter, so it's good to put pen to paper, announce it and then get on with business as usual."

He added: "I've been part of the Mercedes family for 20 years now and i have never been happier inside a team than I am right now."
