Following the conclusion of Extreme Rules last weekend, WWE officially began their build towards their biggest party of the summer, SummerSlam.

As of writing, only one match has officially been confirmed for WWE's second biggest show of the year, which is Alexa Bliss vs Ronda Rousey for the Raw Women's Championship.

Another match will be confirmed tomorrow night on Monday Night Raw, as the winner of Roman Reigns vs Bobby Lashley will go on to face Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam for the Universal title.

As for SmackDown Live, AJ Styles will be defending his WWE Championship at the company's biggest party of the summer, and now another champion has been added to the show.

Tag Team Tournament

Paige revealed on her Twitter that The Bludgeon Brothers' opponents for the SmackDown Tag Team titles at SummerSlam will be determined in a four-team tag team tournament over the next three weeks.

The SmackDown Live general manager said: “I was just thinking: who is going to face The Bludgeon Brothers at SummerSlam?

"So I had an idea: we’re going to get four teams. It’s going to be three weeks, two titles, all for that opportunity to have that one match against The Bludgeon Brothers at SummerSlam. So all the tag teams, get ready.”

The winner of this tournament will wrestle Harper and Rowan for the SmackDown tag team titles at SummerSlam on August 19 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

There are plenty of teams on WWE's blue brand that could be in the mix including The New Day, The Usos, SAnitY, The Bar, Gallows and Anderson, Rusev and Aiden English, and possibly even Team Hell No.

No teams for the tournament have been revealed just yet, but we’ll likely find out who they will be sooner rather than later, potentially even on SmackDown Live this week.

This tournament should help to spice things up for SmackDown's tag team division as teams battle it out for a chance to face The Bludgeon Brothers at SummerSlam for the tag team titles.
