The Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder saga has gone on for some time now, with a dispute in the contract details appearing to be the only factor as to why the pair haven't met in the ring yet.

For the past six months, Wilder has remained adamant that the reason Joshua won't fight the American is that he is simply too scared, whilst AJ himself has squashed these rumours.

Joshua's next fight is against Russian boxer Aleksandr Povetkin in a mandatory world title fight, taking place on September 22 at Wembley Stadium.

However, it appears that Wilder had plans to crash the party as it was revealed that the American wanted to join his long-term rival in the ring for a confrontation after the fight.

“Wilder can come to the fight against Povetkin, sure he can, but he also wanted to get in the ring.

“But I said: ‘You ain’t getting in the ring unless you sign the contract to fight me.

“You’re not going to make your name out of this, just sign the contract," Joshua revealed

Wilder currently holds the WBC heavyweight title and became the first American in nine years to become a heavyweight champion.

Therefore, Wilder is the only thing that stands in the way of AJ becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. The last British boxer to receive this accolade was Lennox Lewis in 1999.

According to Joshua, the ball is currently in Wilder's side of the court, as he claims that the contract is already signed on his end.

Wilder, on the other hand, has stated that he would take no less than a 50/50 split for this historic match-up.

Regarding the fight itself, both fighters will enter the ring as undefeated champions, if they can win their next fights. Therefore, one of these fighters will lose both their title and their undefeated streaks should they lose.

If the contracts are signed, the fight is expected to take place on April 13 at Wembley Stadium.
