One of the first matches confirmed for SummerSlam this year by the WWE was the Raw Women's Championship clash between Alexa Bliss and Ronda Rousey.

This will be Rousey's second championship match in the WWE despite only making her full-time debut in the company earlier this year at the Royal Rumble in January.

However, nobody will disagree that she doesn't deserve the spot. Although there were initial concerns, she has taken to wrestling like a duck to water and has quickly silenced the doubters.

It might be surprising for some WWE fans to hear though that Bliss is actually publicly praising her SummerSlam opponent for the work she has done inside the ring since her arrival at the company.

Emotional Connection

Speaking recently on the Cheap Seats podcast, via Wrestling Inc, The Five Feet Of Fury complimented Rowdy's ability to tell a story through her facial expressions in the ring to emotionally connect with the watching audience.

Bliss said: "I am absolutely impressed. She does really well at her facial expressions, which I appreciate because I am really big on facial expressions.

"It is really easy to appreciate the fact that you know she has been hit before, and you know that pain, you have that emotional connection to her one way or another when you watch her perform.

"I was very impressed with her match against Nia Jax, and also her match at WrestleMania with Stephanie McMahon and Triple H, it was just awesome.

"I am very proud of her and it'll be fun to see where things go with that."

Bliss will be putting her Raw Women's title on the line at SummerSlam this year against Rousey after she cost the former UFC Champion her chance at the title at Money in the Bank when she interfered in her match vs Nia Jax.

Whether or not WWE's biggest party of the summer will end with Rowdy as the Raw Women's Champion remains to be seen, but if it does, no one will deny that she doesn't deserve the spot for the work she has put in inside the ring.
