At last, Liverpool have a solution to their goalkeeper problem.

The Reds have been riddled with issues between the sticks for a considerable length of time.

Those issues cost Liverpool any chance of winning the Champions League final.

And Loris Karius’ howler against Tranmere in pre-season was the catalyst that Jurgen Klopp needed to go out and sign a world-class ‘keeper.

Liverpool completed the signing of Alisson from Roma in a £67 million deal this week.

The Brazilian becomes the most expensive goalkeeper in history.

Klopp was called out for saying that it wasn’t in his style to spend ridiculous sums of money after Man United paid £89m for Paul Pogba in 2016.

Klopp's order to Alisson

He’s since gone back on his words, saying that his opinion has been changed.

And by the sounds of it, Alisson has already left a positive impression on the German.

The 25-year-old is currently on holiday and will join up with his new teammates when they head to France after their trip to the United States.

But according to Klopp, Alisson was so keen to get started that he had to be ordered to take a break.

“He’s desperate to play. He wanted to stay, but it made absolutely no sense,” Klopp revealed.

Alisson had a long year, reaching the semi-final of the Champions League with Roma and the quarter-final of the World Cup.

So he certainly deserves a break.

“He’s had a long year,” Klopp added. “As Brazil No. 1, it was quite an intense year!

“The World Cup is not a tournament you only play a little bit, it was intense. So I sent him on holiday again.”

Alisson will make his debut when Liverpool take on Napoli in Dublin on August 4.

The wait to see a top quality goalkeeper between the sticks is nearly over for Liverpool fans.

Klopp went on to insist that Karius still has a role to play at Anfield despite a difficult few months.
